Just wanted to see where everyone stood on off-topic thread drift. I personally think that we can’t eliminate thread drift and we should give it a bit of leniency to spawn a small side discussion as not everything needs a new thread. I don’t see the need to flag everything that a tiny bit off-topic, but that might just be me.
Anyways slight off topic should be allowed… Every now and then people will just type “back on topic now” yet they don’t continue with anything that is relevant to the topic in the same reply as they say “bot”
You would be surprised how man flags we disagree or defer for apparently being off-topic. The issue is that with one little bit off topic comment, it can lead to a whole off topic discussion. But as always, just let us know if you want anything changed and we can discuss it (:
IMO, the comment sounds like a mod comment. I’m not taking non-mod posting advice that sounds like it comes from a mod, if there is a rule breach, a mod can talk to me directly. There is no need for vigilantism/calling people out.
Like wise. Your not a mod. Its not for you to sort out with Carson. If a mod has a problem with any of my posts they can sort it out with me. Not someone who has had problems with certain groups in the past…
Please hold back on the backseat moderation. Especially if you are not a regular. The best thing to do is to flag, or use the handy flag and message user option. As you can see, blatantly calling out people is not the way to do it.
About the off-topic posts, we have been a lot more lenient lately, I rarely have to intervene to tell people to stick to the topic anymore.
