Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport
Opened in 1950, it handles domestic and international flights, while it has scheduled international services to destinations such as Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Istanbul, Cairo, and many more! Medina Airport also handles charter international flights during the Hajj and Umrah seasons. The Pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah can enter Saudi Arabia through this airport or through Jeddah Airport only. It is the fourth busiest airport in Saudi Arabia, handling 8,144,790 passengers in 2018.
Location
Located in the heart of Al-Hejaz Mountain range across the western coast of Saudi Arabia in the beautiful city of ‘‘Al Madinah Al Munawwarah’’ in arabic (English Meaning: the radiant city).
About Medina
Medina is the 2nd most holy city of islam, after Mecca. The most known landmark, ‘‘Al-Masjid Al-Nabawi’’ in arabic (English Translation: The Prophets Mosque) is one of the most important mosques in islam located in the heart of the city. Medina is a very peaceful city with kind people.
Medina’s History
Medina used to be called ‘‘Yathrib’’ in the early age. ‘‘Masjid - Quba’a’’ in arabic (English Translation: Quba Mosque) is the first and oldest mosque in islam. Built in the 7th century Around 622 AD, it is still standing strong till this day.
