Odd and even altitudes

So recently ive been trying to level up my experience, and i heard that when you fly east you should be at a odd altitude, and when flying west you shouldbe and a even altitude. My question is, is why is this?

This is to regulate en-route traffic so the chance of a head-on conflict is greatly reduced.
In some countries where the airways are going mainly north-south, it can also be a south-odd, north-even rule.

That makes sense! Thx!

Flying this way means you are also applying the so called RVSM rules or ( Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums) It exists for IFR and VFR flight rules
