Looks like they’ll have to review safety at this airport

Aren’t their warning signs? I assume if a lawsuit comes up then it won’t last long. Either way a tragedy.

I know it’s horrible but in my opinion it’s totally the woman’s fault since there are signs and she didn’t listen ( she purposely hold the barrier as thousands of people do ). It’s the woman’s own risk.

Yes, there definitely are numerous signs specifically posted there…

That’s awful! I hope she can rest in peace. My prayer goes to the victim 🙏

Hopefully this can be a warning for other tourists to not stay too close to the fences

Here is the sign for those who are wondering

As far as is known, this tourist is the first person to be killed by a jet blast on Maho Beach.

I’m surprised that something like this hasn’t happened before - based on the videos of people being blasted into the sea.

According to the article, the 737 is a large commercial jet. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

There are multiple casualities that happens in Maho Beach due to the jet blast. But none resulted in death.

I did not know that - so I guess it was a matter of time

Someone should edit this sentence…

“The newspaper also said the plane taking off was a Boeing 737, a large commercial jet.

What a tragedy. But a 737, a large jet?

You know the media, they just assume it’s big.

Just to clarify - The jet blast didn’t kill her - she was knocked over and hit her head on concrete

RIP very sad person from my nation ):

But the Jetblast is the one who made her head knocked the concrete and suffer severe injuries. It’s basically the same in my definition 😉

Yes there are warning signs but once one person ignores them, so does everyone else😢😢😢 so sorry for the family

Well I’m not surprised! It’s her fault for standing so close. There are warnings there, she should know what happens there and it’s her fault. I understand that she hit her head of the concrete but she shouldn’t have been standing so close to the fence, she could have atleast stood in the water, that way if she was knocked down and could have fell in the water which would be safer.

It does seem a bit relaxed in terms of safety. Signs are fine but clearly not enough of a deterrent. Maybe they’ll have to close the beach (in the blast zone) to ensure public safety? As you can see in the videos, people on the beach get blasted too by the jet along with flying debris etc
