I am encountering an issue where I lose the ability to receive messages from ATC. I was taxing to runway 4L at JFK earlier, and I received my pushback, taxi and give-way message that ATC issued me. However, shrirt afterwards, ATC gave me a runway crossing command which I did not receive on my end. I only knew because they notified me that they issued the runway crossing twice already and it was not received.
A few minutes later when I was first in line for takeoff, I requested departure twice and I got no response. I was as then alerted that I had already gotten a “line-up and wait” command, which also did not register on my end. Is this an app issue or is this a connection issue on my end, and how can I troubleshoot this? I experienced a similar issue a few months ago at KBOS.
Worth noting:
When experiencing this problem, both airports had high levels of traffic on the ground given they were both HUBs.
Both instances were in the A220
Airplane Count: Very High. Graphics are also all maxed, w/ 60FPS
I had the same problem and received a Level 2 Violation, glad appeals reviewed the issue and removed the violation ;-;
My RTT ping is somehow constantly around 300ms+, which is weird since other games have good ping and my connection is a stable 500mbps+
Departing/arriving at a controlled airport makes me anxious now lol
I’m not convinced it’s distance in itself — while distance does increase latency, I feel like something is at play.
If it says anything, I’ve successfully used IF via high latency satellite internet connections with 700ms + pings. I was pleasantly surprised all worked as intended.
Another report similar to yours is from a user near the multiplayer server.

Don’t worry about using controlled airports. If you receive a violation as a result of a connectivity problem, please contact appeals as you previously did.
I understand you’d much prefer to not deal with this — I don’t think anyone would. ATC is an important part of IF everyone is entitled to enjoy without worry or anxiety.
The appeals team is fair & I’m confident they’ll take care of you if it happens again. Additionally, it creates a record of the communication issue which helps in identifying communication problems & trends.
