This is what actually happened so they went off to the left because the ILS heading was wrong

Is that actually how it is IRL? I think that’s just bad navigation editing…
It was IF’s issue for the ILS but figured it would make sense in this situation
KSFO cannot really do anything about it, all of these incidents are pilot error.
Not KSFO’s fault a pilot does not know left and right.
sighs loudly and facepalms
c’mon guys. Its not that hard.
These pilots should try landing in Queenstown on Wellington or windy day.
Or not
Damm…
That’s scary. Second time in 3 months…
Wonderful point made:)
I saw that as well, you beat me to posting it. But the ATC corrected his self and the Aeromexico continued towards 28L
You cant always blame the pilots. Miscommunication is sometimes the root cause
APPR controller mistakes the two WPTs, but corrects it, can lead to confusion though. But he clearly cleared for 28R in the end, as well as the TWR did… and they both got a correct readback.
Are there some locals from SFO to answer this question to me: As far as I know the Aeromexico has executed a STAR which usually ends up in a 28L approach. I assume that the pilots had 28L briefed and in the box, but didn’t switch to 28R after the clearence. If this was the case, maybe SFO should consider to implement two exit points in the STAR, one for 28L and one for 28R…
TS1 pilot i think ;)
Let’s be honest, San Francisco’s runways are pretty close together. Perhaps the pilots underestimated the ILS margin and though they were just a bit off centerline, when in reality they were lined up with an entirely different runway.
At first I thought it was an air Canada problem, now it looks like a SFO problem
Planes on the taxiway be like… “Come on Papi, not again!”
Agreed but still with the amount of training you need to eaten step foot in a cockpit you would think you could tell left from right once you were in visual distance of the runways
I think they should paint one bright green one bright orange, and require that all pilots that fly to KSFO be non color blind, oh or the hard one pilots could learn their left and right and what’s a runway based on the lights
I think that is a little over the top. What I think should be done is that it is ensured that all pilots are are fully aware that the runways are the two strips of tarmac in the center, not the outside ones.
