I know this is a very old topic, and I know I probably shouldn’t be bumping it, it’s probably a bad choice, and this might get closed. Yet I am bumping this because I believe this is a really good idea that needs more attention- I feel that now as an IFATC controller myself that this should be implemented at some point. I once was controlling Lukla, and someone kept doing this- in an airport like that, him turning around means he was facing right into my departing traffic, unplanned. I’ve also seen this in bigger airports such as JFK, but it’s obviously less of a problem there. Still pretty annoying. It’s also been mentioned in this thread before, and it’s true, that you can’t declare a fuel emergency until you are 60 minutes into your flight… so there really is no excuse for planes turning around to land.
Summary: I voted, and I think you should too!
