When doing night operations airforces use a Night Vision Device (NVD) also known as night optical/observation device (NOD) and night-vision goggles (NVG) to see through the dark. These devises are optoelectronic devices that allows images to be produced in levels of light approaching total darkness. The image may be a conversion to visible light of both visible light and near infrared, while by convention detection of thermal infrared is denoted thermal imaging. The image produced is typically monochrome.
Why do we need this?
This would be a nice small edition to make airforce flights much more realistic and would be even better with reworked cockpits. Stealth missions such as the AC-130 when all lights are off it would make it realistic.
hooooolY crickey this is so awesome! I’ll consider clearing a vote for this! Why hasn’t this been a feature request yet? 😅
Make sure to vote for your own topic 😉
Got my vote, would be very cool
Cleared a vote for that one.
This is a very smart idea I wouldn’t of Thought about! Nice request! Would be cool if this became reality.
I agree, it makes military aircraft have more use
This would be cool. But why are all these features topics bumping to the top again?
People want them isn’t that why they get bumped?
You got my vote. For them GAF bois. 🏳️🌈
Yep I’m putting a vote towards this. It would make night flying a lot easier than it is now
Bump ! This idea is great :
Definitely, would be a cool addition to have for NVG Ops
Cleared a vote for this
OC-47 Sqn EAF
This would be so cool I have voted for this
How about just a night vision switch? like something to fill in the missing taxiway lights/citylights and aircraft exterior/interior lighting for the time being?
In theory, a night vision “filter” shouldn’t be too difficult if it’s simply for looks.
By that I mean just rendering things on a green/black/white scale, with increased highlights.
I’d love this, as a few landings on an unlit dirt LZ have nearly ended tragically for me.
Point I totally agree with ur point
