New Uruguayan flag carrier: Sociedad Uruguaya de Aviación

After quite some time of being carrierless, Uruguay will be launching a new, privately owned, flag carrier in 2024. Official announcement is expected to be made in February of this year.

Uruguay has had plenty of experiences with flag carriers, starting with PLUNA (Primeras Líneas Uruguayas de Navegación Aérea), Alas Uruguay, BQB Líneas Aéreas (whose parent company was the ship sailing Buquebús), and more recently Amaszonas Uruguay (parent company Amaszonas Líneas Aéreas).

The airline’s fleet is expected at first to have a small fleet of Airbus aircraft. Here’s an unofficial livery for the airline (real livery hasn’t been announced)
