New to the Live Server

Been playing for quite a few years, never joined the live server. What is everyones advice on how to proceed, i have a good knowledge of flight, take off and landing, and navigation, i do NOT have a good knowledge of how to navigate gates and taxi numbers. Thanks in advance, currently racking up my hours to get to Level 2

Hi there!

I suggest you to read User Guide, which include How to get started and most of what you need to notice when playing on live servers.

“i do NOT have a good knowledge of how to navigate gates and taxi numbers.”

Not quite sure what you mean by “taxi numbers,” but ground navigation is airport specific. Before you pushback, look at the airport map and plan out a taxi route. Do the same thing when descending into an airport you’re not familiar with. If ATC assigns you a taxi route, just follow the magenta lines that pop up on your map.

As long as you don’t disrupt traffic or cause a major virtual safety issues, you should be fine to join the live servers. And remember that training server is just training. You don’t have to be perfect as long as you use common sense and listen to ATC.

And of course, read the user guide.

Hello, welcome to the community!

It’s great to hear that you’re joining the online servers! My biggest advice is to read over ATC communications as these are a crucial part of the ES. If you plan to fly on the ES you will more then likely have to communicate with them at some point. Don’t worry, you don’t need to worry about taxiways as most airports don’t use specific routes. At some airports you’ll find that the controller can give you a specific route. This will show up on your map in magenta so that you can follow it to the runway or, if you request a specific gate, it will guide you there. I linked a useful guide below to help you. Read over the user guide and you’ll be all set! Hope to see you in the sky soon!
