Okay, this time, I’m surprised how far this little bird went. 15 hours is crazy, but you know what’s more crazy? 16, my friends. Anyways, let’s jump into this crazy flight!
We’ve now parked at the gate and disembarked. Definitely tired from that one.
Well, I’ve enjoyed this long-haul flight. I hope you did as well. Probably won’t be attempting something like that in a while. Let me know your on this.
I can only imagine the rage over the screen. Thankfully, they let me of with a slap on the wrist. I’m not the most heinous criminal they have to deal with (@PhorzaSky ).
If I told you, you would probably would say it doesn’t count. So I plugged this entire flight into Simbrief, and it told me I would not make it to the destination at I would suffer a fuel deficit (insufficient fuel). So I setting the plane to 0 payload, max fuel, with a cost index of 0, which Simbrief calculated I should fly from Mach 0.61 - Mach 0.68. Even with this, it still suggested a fuel deficit, but I somehow made it. The tailwinds at the time were super strong, so I guess that’s why Simbrief chose a lower Mach number. It said I was supposed to reach in 16 hours 43/48 minutes (I can’t remember). My flight speed ranged from 400-500 knots ground speed. The entire flight had an AoA of 2-3 degrees and an n1 in the moderate 60s to lower 70s.
I could’ve chosen a faster Mach speed, but SimBrief calculated the deficit to be too high. The slower speed only had like a deficit of like 500 lbs of fuel, so I knew it would be more feasible knowing IF quirks.
If I were you, I would fly an Emirates B777-300ER ORD-DXB because it has more fuel than the B737 MAX 8. Like it has a larger amount of fuel than the B737 MAX 8.
That’s true! Though, this unusual flight of mine really helped me learn more about the IF 737 MAX 8’s capabilities. I never expected it to fly even farther.
This flight was 6,285 nm. I believe it can travel a max of 6,900 nm. Though, I don’t think anyone has done that far before on the ES. @PhorzaSky , do you remember how far that KLAX-YSSY was?
