New Pacific Airlines announced in an internal email today that they are ceasing all operations, as reported first by View From The Wing.

“It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that we will be ceasing operations today. Unfortunately, we are unable to continue to fund the losses in our business,” said the airlines’ President and Chief Executive Officer, Tom Hsieh.

Who Was New Pacific?

New Pacific, who started out as Northern Pacific, was founded in 2021 with plans to connect US cities with Asia via Anchorage, Alaska using a fleet of 757s. It was ambitious, with a goal of 18 destinations by 2026. They partnered with Ravn Alaska to use their AOC, but their transpacific flights never materialized. New Pacific made ends meet by operating charters with their 757s, including for sports teams and political campaigns, and commercial service between Ontario, California and Reno, Nevada and Nashville, Tennessee.

The services didn’t last long, and they went back to being charter-only.

The writing has been on the wall for a long time, but it’s sad to see the confirmation of their death.

This is what happens when you try to copy Icelandairs strategy

I had a feeling this airline wasn’t going to last long.

Hopefully the 757’s live on

N627UP & N628UP are currently being stored at Mojave [KMHV].
N629UP is being stored at Farmingdale [KFRG].

Maybe another airline will pick them up - they are all old aircraft (30 years old - first flight 1995).

I really feel like new airlines these days are just choosing strategies and plans right out the wazoo and assuming it’ll work. RIP Northern Pacific (yes I’m calling it that still). Beautiful livery for beautiful aircraft gone to nothing :((

I think they would have had a better chance if Russian airspace was accessible. Having to go around it seriously limits where they can fly from Anchorage with the 757.

True that.

At this point, even if the Russia → Ukraine War ended right this moment, it seems highly unlikely that Russia would reopen their airspace to Americans in the foreseeable future.

Yeah that is most likely what will happen. They’d probably suspend any inbound or outbound flights to the US, thus making NPA’s strategy a seemingly total waste of money and resources.
