New level/grade system

With the new update of AP+, adding hours and landings may start to look easier than it would’ve had before. I think as a community some or many of us can agree that after Grade 3 reaching 4 or 5 is almost like a milestone, now with AP+ this may diminish the sense of accomplishment associated with reaching those higher levels, and will no longer hold a meaningful value when it’s made so much easier to reach. Even for some who believe that the level system doesn’t matter this may be a game changer for them. This easier level system may also give way to people who do not have the proper knowledge to reach Expert Server, therefore ruining many experiences. As to how to fix this is the question for me.

Here’s possible solutions from me:

Implementing ATC interactions # (almost like operations when controlling)

Introducing new higher levels other then level 5.

Higher requirements than what they are today.

Required Videos/tutorials of how to communicate with ATC etc, before being able to fly.(Now as to flying tutorials its a bit more optional rather then required as this sort of doesn’t affect others. So it doesn’t make requirements so congested that it makes people not want to play anymore.)

Side note: Special badges or titles that u can get when u reach a certain milestone would also help other pilots feel accomplished while also making them look forward to achieving something!

This is just my personal opinion feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions !

I completely agree. The “milestones” aspect doesn’t particularly appeal to me. What concerns me a bit is how easily some people might reach Grade 3 and join the ES, potentially becoming a nuisance. I’ve already seen a few people who are new to the ES and are unaware of basic concepts, such as entering left downwind, which is just crazy for an “expert” server lol.

Well, the good thing is that the hardest part about being grade 4 or 5 is the landings, which aren’t affected that much by this update, since you still have to take the time to land the plane

Wait, I’m not challenging your statement, because I agree, I think this might get people immature access to the expert server, but what do you mean by that statement? What’s so bad about entering left downwind?

He means like some pilots are unaware of what to actually do or even know what enter LDW is

Nothing bad about it! I meant that Tower will give them a pattern entry but they end up doing something completely different from what they were given. I just used that as an example, haha!

Oh, right, yeah, I hate when that happens :joy:

Haha I understand that part that the milestone may not be appealing, but I think it would be a nice fresh addition to the system, this might make people more interested if ya know what I mean. Like in some games there’s certain achievements and people work a lot to get it. I mean this in my opinion may catch my attention as well. But yeah I agree with people not being able to know the basics, and just jumping into ES and really getting a violation bc of it.

Landings are also easy as it is haha, u just need time and will to finish all the landings and you’ll be set. So many new things should be renewed tbh

as a G5, I agree

I asked Cameron about this yesterday on Discord and his reply was essentially that they will be keeping an eye on it and if they need to make changes - they will.

Agree on this! Based on the existing grading system, someone can fly solely on casual-training server, accrue the landings and total flight time, and achieve grade 3-5 status without ever interacting with ATC.

this sounds fun! smth similar to the badges on the IFC, like 1000 landings, 20 hour ulr flight badge or smth. We can then select the badges we want displayed on our profiles

this would be a great idea
