I think the new UI with the callsign is just not thought through. I don´t even really mind the new placement eventhough it´s completly unnecessary. What definitely bothers me is the lack of being able to change it once spawned. This just happened to me recently, i started a flight. I manually entered my route since i couldn´t find it online. It took me maybe 15-20 minutes to enter all the corresponding waypoints from the flight tracker, set my weight and all the rest only to realize once im about to call atc that i forgot to change my callsign from my last flight. This used to be so simple and i could easily change it on the go in a couple seconds. Now im basically screwed and i have to do everything again. 20 minutes just down the drain. I feel like there´s so many different features in IF that are actually requested and yet it seems a lot of the updates just contain imo useless changes for things that work perfectly fine and noone asked for. Don´t get me wrong last update was great, but why waste time on things like this?
That’s right. I also tried to put on “Heavy” in the middle of yesterday’s flight, but I couldn’t put it on and felt that the function was reduced. I want you to put it back.
Yeah it´s not a very smart design for sure. Would be better if they just left it alone
I’ve been saying this since the update.
I got caught out when I first spawned.
I spent best part of an hour doing stuff for flight and all sorts…
Just to discover I couldn’t change my callsign…
I quit and didn’t fly for about a day and half coz I was annoyed about it being removed. Dramatic I know but that’s my autism for ya haha.
Yeah, changing it mid-flight was also useful when flying to places that didn’t use the heavy callsign from somewhere it was used, and vice versa. I’ve also had to leave my flight two times because of forgetting to change my callsign, completely agree!
Also made doing short hops in a small plane easy
Now you have to land despawn change spawn airport then callsign its just a complete faff now to do what was a simple 2 second job
I’m ngl the update as a whole was a disappointment
So is your comment ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
AMEN @Eliax !! Amen, Absolutely. I really hate how the devs removed this feature WHEN it was really useful…
Off topic, but @IF.Kaden regards to your amazing grandma 🤩
Valid point, until you realize that the confusion the ATC controller experiences from you passing callsigns around is much more important than the single moment of realization you have.
I didn’t like this format either, I often like to do several flight segments without leaving the simulator, now with this I can’t change my call sign while the aircraft is on the ground, I need to leave the flight to be able to change it.
Not me just going to try change callsign again 🤦
God sake another 15 mins FPL making out the window
Same as me.
I used to do 10 ish back to back flight and used to always update the callsigns after landing.
That’s for sure one of the things i loved the most to do during my long sessions, like GRU-DXB-AKL and all the way back to GRU just enjoying the flight without the need to leave for each segment just to change the callsign.
TBH i feel that it was a wrong decision from the devs.
I do understand your point, however most people surely don’t change their callsign while actively talking to ATC with the wrong one. Not saying it doesn’t ever happen, but i never do this. Also i feel like the usefulness of having the option outweighs a rare instance like this.
See , it is an aesthetic change and also makes the IF interface look good. For the developers it might have taken them hours for hard word to implement this small change :)
I agree that this wasn’t thought out thoroughly. I fly my favorite route on the weekends; UAL1366 from KIAD to KDEN, then turning around and head back to KIAD as UAL630 which both are actual 772 routes. I now have to quit the game, change my call sign and reload. Before, while refueling, I could change my call sign on the fly without interrupting the entire set of flights. I don’t mind the new look, but the inability to change call signs is a step backward IMHO.
