Here’s some more positive news in light of everything going on.
There’s a new 787 operator coming soon: EuroAtlantic.
EuroAtlantic is a Portuguese leasing and charter airline based in Lisbon. In partnership with AerCap, another leasing company, EuroAtlantic will receive two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.
The two 787s will be delivered in Spring 2021 which will make EuroAtlantic the first 787 operator in Portugal. According to AerCap however, these two 787s will be used.
Eugénio Fernandes, the CEO of EuroAtlantic:
We are very pleased as euroAtlantic Airways will be the first Portuguese operator of the ultra-modern 787 Dreamliner. The 787’s incredible fuel efficiency and range provide tremendous flexibility for our customers as they profitably operate the airplane on a wide range of route networks and business models such as ACMI’s, Wet Lease or Charter flights.”
EuroAtlantic typically operates aircraft on behalf of airlines such as TAP Portugal and LOT Polish Airlines. You may recall that Norwegian Air used some of EuroAtlantic’s widebody aircraft to cover for its grounded 787s due to ongoing engine issues.
Currently, EuroAtlantic has one 777-200ER, six 767-300ERs, and one 737-800 in its fleet.
