New ATC Region Assignments

Is there a precise date? Such as Saturday, May 1 or Monday, May 3… Or is it somewhere in the month of May?

Its May 1st.

I don’t really like this new Region thing, and here is why:

Whenever a region is featured, the biggest airport there will get all the arrivals. As an example when Europe is featured, EGLL is gonna get all the arrivals.

Airports like YSSY, KJFK, KLAX, CYYZ, EGLL, UUEE, VHHH, OMDB will be the most popular airports and they will rotate in this cycle.

Small airports won’t get any attention.

@tunamkol This is incorrect - there will be no more featured regions - instead each IFATC controller will choose a region they want to control in but each pilot can choose anywhere in the world they want to fly.

While yes, the large HUB airports will of course be the busiest - it will be a steady flow of traffic across all of them rather then when a single large HUB is currently featured and it gets 200-300+ inbounds at the same time…

Oh I get it. So each IFATC controller will have a region to control in?

Yes - and they can change this region every 30 days - the map of the regions is at the top of this thread.

Oh alright - thanks for the clarification.

No problem - always happy to help!

I feel like many parts of the world will be missing out if a controller can only control the areas they want because it’s no doubt there is a strong North American presence in the game due to people tending to fly closer to home for airport in the pacific like NFFN the airports will mostly miss out.

Tyler has assured us there will be controllers in every region.

Can’t wait to see atc in the Balkans then!

Me too - the Balkans has some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere in the world…plus some of the airports in that region are rather challenging…

Cough cough Tivat One of the best airports in the world! Has a 20 degree turn just before landing on Runway 32 and has a circle to land approach on runway 14 which doesn’t get used often… It also receives major popular IF airlines like easyJet, Jet2 and TUI! Would be soooo cool to have ate there!

Some of the answers seem off so when you first join IFATC you will become and apprentice during your time as apprentice and time in specialist check ride you will be exempt from region assignmemts after you presumably pass you will be left with the region you picked for atleast 30 days

No only ATC Specalists are exempt from region assignments except on Tuesdays, FNF Days, GA Days and other certain days such as some Twitch stream days…

Even though twitch streams are reserved for the most experienced controllers

Yes they will be…but the lower ranked controllers will be able to control the smaller airports around the featured “stream airports”

Well, it is normal because the normal traffic of EGLL is huge in real life… Only during the pandemic LPCG managed to surpass Heathrow.
That’s why England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 has 6 airports that serves London

Heathrow
Gatwick
Stansted
Luton
South and
London city
