New airline to YVR!

Vancouver International has announced that Beijing Capital Airlines will start flying from Hangzhou Via Qingdao to Vancouver using an Airbus A330.

This will be the 6th Chinese carrier to fly to YVR after Xiamen Airlines started flying to YVR a few weeks ago.

Seems like the HU group is really into the West coast of north America now. What’s next? HU itself?

They do fly to Seattle, it wont surprise me if they do start service. There are rumours that Cebu Pacific has plans to fly to YVR as well as Tianjin Airlines. These are rumours though. It also won’t surprise me if a MEA 3 will start to YVR

I think QR is planning on to Launch

I doubt Cebu though. Tianjin is confirmed(I think) as well as a 2nd flight for CZ

I know all of the small Chinese airlines that want to start North American routes always look to YVR. I know Emirates won’t come because Air Canada will talk to the government about it

It’s all about the people living in Richmond. There are also many Chinese awash in cash and looking for real estate to buy up.

Chinese people are stocking up houses near UBC and downtown so quickly ;)

Disclaimer: I live in Richmond myself

They are also moving to Vancouver Island. There is a lot of buildings going up in Nanaimo/Victoria and near my place (Duncan). Now lets get back on topic I guess

Wow! These Chinese airlines are taking over the world! And the plane looks like it’s Kai’s business jet (from Ninjago)

I’m actually surprised that Hainan (HU) doesn’t fly to YVR. They fly to YYZ (Toronto) and YYC (Calgary, my hometown) but not Vancouver. Weird, huh

Don’t forget about southwest

i feel for loss, how’s the driving ? Crazy as always over there :P

I’m assuming it is partially due to China’s policy of only awarding major international routes to one airline, so there are no 2 Chinese carriers competing on the same route, Vancouver to China would be no exception.

Yeah I guess that does make sense

If you think about driving in Richmond isn’t that bad just the usual slow drivers and all the small stuff, i live in Vancouver as well.
