Air India has started with retrofitting all of their legacy B787-8 aircrafts. Currently VT-ANT is the first aircraft that has completed retrofit and is returning to Delhi at this point!
Air India is undergoing a $400 million comprehensive retrofit program, known as “Project Abhinandan” to modernize its legacy fleet. The plan involves upgrading 27 narrowbody A320neo aircraft with new three-class cabins (completed by late 2025) and 26 widebody B787-8s, with B777-300ERs starting in 2027 to ensure a consistent, modern, and high-quality in-flight experience, including Premium Economy.
