I would like to decade this post to @Trey @Hornet11 , and to every pilot that was a part of my practical and training sessions.
Thank you guys for your patience, for going above and beyond to help me learn, for your helpful feedback, and for always answering any questions I had! Words can’t express how deeply grateful I am and how much I appreciate you all.
About 2 months ago, I applied to join IFATC. I failed my written exam the first time, then passed the second time after a couple weeks. Drummer was very patient with me, he answered any questions I had without hesitation. Thank you for that.
Practical- First Attempt
The first time I took the practical exam, I failed. Drummer shared on what my weak points were, that led to failing the exam. He offered me to enroll in training, so I could be more prepared on the next attempt. I accepted the offer, and this was the best decision I could have ever made.
This is when I met Hornet11 :)
Hornet11 is an outstanding trainer, he answered any questions I had immediately. He would always let me know how I did every training session: what my strengths were, and what I needed to keep working on. Throughout training, I gradually started understanding and getting better, with more experience each session. Eventually, he told me I’m ready to take the practical, only if I felt comfortable. At this point, I gained the confidence to be able to control ATIS, ground, and tower properly and efficiently, so I said let’s do it!
Practical- Second Attempt:
I’m grateful to say that I passed! I was extremely prepared to handle the traffic. I knew exactly what to do and when. Thank you to all the pilots that joined my sessions throughout this process. I appreciate you for always showing up on time, and for your helpful feedback for each session. Your feedback showed me what I needed to work on, and what I did well on.
I just wanted to share my experience to show that no matter what, with hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn, you can do it. As long as you study the ATC Manual, you got this. I highly recommend joining training, because for me, it allowed me to practice until I was able to properly and efficiently control. For anyone who wants to join or is in the process of joining IFATC, you got this! It’s only a matter of time :)
