Alright so I’m about to depart at PEK, but my SimBrief flight plan has these crazy flight levels to be at during the flight, anyone know why this might be?
Could that be the ceiling?
I don’t know. First time I’ve flown out of China and first time I’ve seen this. Stays like this on every route I’ve tried so far, and every type of flight plan style including LIDO and DAL.
Just tested it and it seems to be only an issue when flying out of China.
Just a guess but could it be metres ?
China does use metric flight levels 🤷♂️
FL225 in meters would be about 73,000 feet, so I don’t think that is the case.
What’s your final “weird” cruise level?
9100m is FL 298
simbrief has always been weird to me. I just switched to copying irl flight plans from FlightAware. Pretty realistic if you ask me
I just can’t get enough of SimBrief. You can use FlightAware routes and the briefing that it makes is just amazing!
The unit used here, is tens of meters. So 225 means 2250m or 7400ft, 605 means 6050m or 19800ft, etc.
An example of my long haul flight last night, when it enters China airspace:
You’ll notice that the level changed from 410 (41000ft) to 1250 (12500m or 41100ft).
A simple rule of thumb is to add 100ft from normal cruise levels while in RVSM airspace (29000 ~ 41000ft) to use the nearest metric cruise levels.
For other altitudes, a quick conversion table is available in this topic:
Thank you! I will keep this in mind next time I’m flying out of PEK!
