Need help finding pax DC-10/MD-11 flight numbers

Hi guys!

After discovering time compression, I wanted to do some vintage routes with the DC-10 and MD-11, but the problem is, I can’t find any route numbers to do said flights. Looking for stuff like “Continental DC-10 routes” gives me the route, but not the flight number.

If anyone has any info, please write it down below.

Thanks!

When an aircraft is retired from an airline’s fleet, certain slots for a route are removed as well.

I’ll give an example.

Using Swiss, the airline you gave, if we can find a route that has a missing flight number, and that is also a confirmed retro aircraft route, it is likely that was the flight number used.

Swiss currently operates two redeye flights from New York City’s John F. Kennedy airport to Zurich. Those are LX15 and LX17, both on Airbus A330s. With that being said, KJFK-LSZH is a route that used to be operated by the MD-11; and it is known that a few years ago redeyes used to be executed earlier in the day; following that pattern, we come to the conclusion that LX13 must be a route operated, since LX13 is a retired number, not retired due to a third reason.

LX11 is used interchangeably with WK11 (as well as LX8011, however the 8000s are used within the company mostly to facilitate efficiency when the base numbers differ between Swiss and Edelweiss, however, LX11, Vancouver-Zurich, does not).

So that’s probably the most accurate way to identify confirmable flight numbers for retro aircraft, aside from manually scanning FlightAware to see if you can come across a very old track-both are very time consuming and it might be best to use modern flight numbers.

I think you may be right in this statement, I wasn’t able to find any info, aside KLM765 between AMS and SXM.

I could also look at DC-10/MD-11 accident Wikipedia pages and grab the flight number from there.

Hello, I use a software called a free-to-use Flightsim Dispatch for most of my historical flights. They give flight numbers and times :)

Is it a safe app? My PC warns me the file could damage it.

It does that for most exe’s depending on your computer’s anti-virus settings. I’ve been using this software for a year with no issues.

For most of historical flights with the MD11 or the DC10 i like to use this site: oagintro

For international flights you can search in the links tagged as “Worldwide Edition”. Here i even found a route that Malaysia Airlines used to do with their MD11: KUL-JNB-CPT-EZE!

Ah, a fellow FlightSim Dispatch user. It’s such a handy tool for when I want to fly retro routes. Has it been updated in the past year though?

It’s helped me find so many interesting routes to fly. I haven’t updated it since last spring, so unsure if there’s been an update for it. I’m on v1.4.95.

This app will be put to good use once I get a new subscription. Can’t wait to do AMS-SXM with the MD-11!

I’m on the same version as you then. Doesn’t appear that they’ve updated it since v1.4.95.
