Necessary Unicom Changes!

Hey guys,

just had a situation in Dublin. I was pilot landing on RW10R and exiting the runway, taxiing to my desired Gate/Terminal. BTW: I don’t use always the real Gates and Terminals, but of course I don’t park a Passenger Plane on a Cargo Stand or otherwise…

Here’s the situation: as I was taxiing to my Gate, there was a Shamrock pushing back. I now know, I should have given him priority and send him my excuses.

But it brings me to the conclusion: WE NEED A PUSHBACK COMMAND on Unicom: “Callsign is pushing back, tail to the n/e/s/w” And we need a unicom command for Taxi to parking at the Gate/Stand…

And there should be warnings implemented maybe like the overspeed warning, if a plane is moving without any given command via unicom. With the implementation of the pushback and Taxi to parking, there would every movement be covered and the warning system also forces pilots to use unicom. reaching three warnings for not using unicom (e.g. 1. PB, 2. Taxi to RW, 3. Takeoff) should give a level 1 vio…

Agreed. Pushback on Unicom will be nice.

The violation thing seems harsh to me, but I agree with you on the pushback announcement. Definitely needed.

Here’s the feature topic :backhand_index_pointing_down:

I see the point. But come on. We’re on expert server. Using Unicom if theres no ATC should be mandatory to all pilots and creating more situational awareness, even when IFATC are active. Maybe no violation, but disconnect from server. If one wanna fly without commands, go casual or training.

Hi! I think this post should belong in the features category, but since there is already a thread. Feel free to continue in the linked thread rather than creating a new one.

Your point about the pushback command makes complete sense, but the violation thing is not very functional as even in real life scenarios unicom may or may not be used depending on the airspace and the aerodrome. If you enter a certain airspace you may or may not have a radio to do comms and even when you fly in and out of airports where only you are flying comms are not mandatory.

I get your point of bringing the violations so that in major airports you may not face these situations but the team cant pick and choose where the violations will be enforced and where they wont right.

Hope you understand what I am saying.
