The AA Baggage Handler fell asleep on the job while intoxicated and ended up flying from Kansas City to Chicago in the cargo of a Boeing 737. He took a nap inside the cargo hold before the flight. No one noticed him missing, and the plane took off at 5:52 AM local time (10:52 Zulu) with the worker in the forward cargo hold, airline and law enforcement officials confirmed.
He told law enforcement officials he was intoxicated and fell asleep. He was not charged with a crime and flew back to Kansas City on another American flight. The worker has been suspended.
The worker is 23 years old and unharmed in the cargo hold. The cargo hold is pressurized and heated.
My thought on this…
He shouldn’t be intoxicated and try to nap in the cargo hold, through he had long shift and lot of heave lift. He need more sleep and he should be not drinking the day before he work.
Very dangerous. The hold is not always heated, in fact most of the time it isn’t if I remember correctly unless there is certain cargo onboard so this man was very lucky. He should definitely lose his job over this, sleeping on the job is no joke especially in the aviation industry.
Considering you posted an article, yes. We might want to consider having new regulation mandate the searching of the cargo hold for any employees who might of dozed off.
Well the fact that he’s 23, and an adult I’m sure he can make up his mind whether he wants to drink or not. Was it a stupid decision to come to work drunk yes.
