N1% issue during cruise

Hello please the n1% at the cockpit dashboard keeps going from green to red what is the cause please

And please what is the cruise N1% for A380

Hey!

If I’m understanding what you’re referring to - its basically an indicator that you’re over 100% N1 (in the event both engines are running).

Depends on weight and altitude but you shouldn’t exceed 98% throttle:

Yes I was at 82% Load and I use the flight planning from simbrief from Dubai to San Francisco
But I notice the n1% keeps going from green to red

Red means 100% or more.

Why does this happen is it normal ? Because I’m on auto pilot an 38,000ft

It’s fine in the A380.

If you turn on VNAV, the plane will descend for you.

So it changing from green to red means nothing? I just want to be sure it means nothing?

And what’s is the N1% on cruise
And for throttle also because auto pilot control this thing

Best bet is you are flying too high or too fast for your current weight. I would level off at 2000-4000ft lower to burn some extra fuel. The altitudes provided by simbrief aren’t always very realistic.
For cruisespeed I reckon to have it around M.85 which is in most of the time ideal for the A380.

Wow so so brief altitude isnt realistic ? So what do you use for your flight planning ? I use M.84 for cruise

Simbrief altitudes are actually based on the aircraft weight rather than on wind factors hence you should ignore and climb based on how wind affects your aircraft performance. Also speed varies from anywhere between .80 to .85 mach depends on what you prioritise performance, efficiency or balance between two. Another factor most simbrief routes are not optimised nor effective for live flights hence you should check winds for your selected route through windy app and make adjustments if needed. Simbrief given speeds are pretty much accurate as fuel is adjusted according to the route you use just not that effective or efficient in real world.

Regarding N1 less than 100% is ideal only when the aircraft is lighter let’s say less than 40% or MLW. It’s normal for to cruise at upto 105% at initial leg of a flight.

So what’s best recommended for my flight planning please ?

A lot of us use Simbrief for flight planning - it even has direct integration with Infinite Flight:

Please explain further thanks

Sure I’ll explain them give me a few min.

You can see how I have adjusted my fuel settings for this flight now it’s not my usual settings as today I’m testing out autopilot+ so have additional fuel with increased fuel consumption.

Simbrief automatically adjusted my fuel consumption based on the flight time efficiency etc. Which override my input on fuel factor and adjusted with ISA deviation. Now based on this value simbrief gives you speed value for each waypoints on cruise when looking at pdf. Now altitudes are based on your weight mainly but since I have higher margin I can ignore the recommended altitude.

Ohh great so when you’re on cruise you don’t need to alter the altitudes anymore right ?

It depends on the aircraft weight and most importantly how winds differs from each alt level. Flying at higher altitudes when you’re lighter can be very efficient and honestly you can stick with the recommended profiles like it’s posted here on the forum I believe.
