My Flight Home

Yesterday I flew from FLL-BWI on a Southwest 737-700 (N7834A)

After a 1 hour delay we finally begin to pushback. I experienced my first gate change from B9 all the way to A4. Some flight attendants were clearly frustrated walking over there

Lined up and waiting, runway 28R.

Rotate, now these next few minutes was really rough, we climed through a cloud and then suddenly descended through it, I’ve never experienced altitude loss after takeoff.

More beautiful photos, still the flight was shaky and the seatbelt sign didn’t come off at all. Beverage service was still completed though. The flight attendant seemed new and confused some drink orders.

Descending into BWI runway 10, some harsh turns

Landing video

Arrival at gate C9, I don’t understand why I always arrive into terminal C.

The flight was actually not the best. Ft Lauderdale airport is now on the list of my worst airports, they had changes every SWA flights gate, some multiple times. After boarding, we sat and sat until the captain said “We’re waiting on some bags that apparently were forgotten”. We sat for 45 minutes. At that point people started becoming worried about their connections, Hartford and Louisville respectively. The FA said they should be fine and suggested they stay on board. After takeoff and the altitude loss after takeoff a woman two rows behind me screamed. This was the first time I’ve been on a flight with anyone other than a baby who screamed. The rest of the flight was just very turbulent.

Service: 7/10
In flight entertainment: 5/10
Overall: 6/10

Not my best flight but certainly one I won’t forget for a long while

I have been on a flight that was basically a roller coaster, I am always on really rough flights. My roughest one they did not even serve anything it was so bad.

That sucks you got delayed. Your still lucky that you flew though 😂😉

I did forget to mention how fast we were flying, the pilot said that the flight was blocked at 2 hours 40 minutes, then he said he’d do it in 1 hour 40 minutes. We flew well over 600 mph ground speed.

This is why you go to Miami

Nice job @HiFlyer, and its crazy that you lost altitude like that

Every thing is not perfect. They probably were just having a bad day…

you should recreate it from the gate change to the altitude loss. wouldn’t that be fun

I remember me getting delayed for hours before acually getting on the flight (maybe 3 or 4 hours).

P.S. This happened at LGA

I understand how stressful it is. I’ve been in your shoes (well not the woman screaming but there was a crying baby on mine)

So what exactly did you expect?? XD

Flightradar24 did reflect an altitude loss but only of a few feet, but I could still feel that and so could the rest of the plane!

Also to metnion this was the most expensive SWA flight I’ve ever had $461

You probably hit what’s called a downdraft… it’s actually super common in super hot and bumpy days with thunderstorms around. Also, FLL only has one runway open so that’s another factor on why it took so long to depart

Yes there were thunderstorms around, the day before there was a major storm and many flights were cancelled, those departed on the day I departed

By the way, that’s crazy expensive! And Southwest is a Low-Cost Airline!

It’s kind of my fault, I booked the return on the wrong date, the 19th instead of 20th. Originally for $120 but after I realized my mistake I waited so long for the fares to come down, they never did only went up!
