Multi Million Rand Heist at O.R Tambo

Hi all,

On Tuesday at O.R Tambo there was a Multi Million Rand Heist at O.R Tambo in Johannesburg, South Africa. They dressed up as police officers and used police cars. They stole more than 20 million rand in foreign currencies. R20 000 000 is equal too $1 517 821. This is really bad as it is claimed as an inside job too. This all happend at the cargo terminal. They by passed strict security at O.R Tambo. National police are working closely with Acsa and South African Airways (SAA) to determine how the heist was carried out. I personally believe that South Africa is slowly going corrupt. I’m not going to say much more, I’ll leave it for you guys to read the articles.

Regards,
Josh

South Africa everyone! Lol. Well that’s bad. I don’t know if it actually has much impact on the aviation side of things…

If you believe that SA is going slowly corrupt, imagine MZ, we hit rock bottom.

All they did was rip off Jimmy’s idea in ā€œGood Fellasā€. šŸ˜‰

A handful of Italian mob in New York pull off a multi million dollar heist of foreign currency from Lufthansa by infiltrating airport security. It’s a classic movie here in the States, I highly recommend it. That’s not the full plot, just part of the film and it’s not for the faint of heart depending on your age.

Thanks for clarifying! I’ll try to watch it!

Oh ORT , got to give to those guys they are pretty slick !

This isn’t surprising as heists or robberies in general is very common and so is rape, don’t be don’t be surprised if you see someone stealing 100,000 rand!

SAA pilots want the board dissolved. A move i fully support. That’s where corruption started

Tax payers money keeps SAA afloat , it needs to privatised or dissolved. Bare in mind the only 7% of SA citizens pay tax.

Okay back on topic , how did SAA come up !? hehe

It actually happened too, back in the '70s. There’s a book about it called The Lufthansa Heist written by both Daniel Simone and one of the criminals involved, Henry Hill. It’s thrilling!

This sounds straight out of Goodfellas. If you haven’t seen it, they pull two heists against Air France and Lufthansa, the Lufthansa the most money stolen on US soil ever. Based of true stories.

Coincidentally two passengers, one on KQ763 from JNB and another on KQ783 from CPT were arrested at NBO after smoking onboard the flights.

Henry Hill, really? I’m surprised he took the risk of doing anything remotely close to public, lol. I’m pretty sure there’s still a price on him.
