Mountain ranges

I found some earlier topics asking about good mountain ranges to check out:

The Alps, Pyrenees, Himalayas, The Andes, Japan(?), Colorado Rockies, The Remarkable’s in Queenstown etc.

Anyone have any good updates for this, with good ideas for experiencing or images, including with the advancement of 3D airports?

I was recently trying to check out some mountain ranges in Africa but only scratched the surface…?

Alaska’s always a super cool choice. Even the 2D ones are beautiful. If you want 3D ones, check out PADQ, PAJN, and PAKT areas.

So I just went to PADQ. I think it was 2D but stunning terrain hits you right away. Definitely a great one I’ve been missing!

I personally find the region around HTKJ pretty beautiful.

…and wow, PAJN has to be in the top 5?, 4?!..for mountain scenery worldwide(??). Maybe otherwise known by others. But for me an eye opener by comparison!

Im uncertain to call it ‚mountainside‘, but I like the area around Vancouver and Seattle. Always worth a flight ✈️

For sure it is different than the Alaska mountain scenery. But how different. The colour contrast combined with the dramatic mountains. This has to be in the top 4 or 5?

Maybe the top by the combination of terrain elevations combined with colour contrast?

Some of these surely deserve some comparative photos?

Got to keep it fresh by comparison, so checking it out after quite some time…

I’ve got to say, you get these stunning reddish colours, that I didn’t expect, like in the Australian outback, but with the high mountains that Australia lacks from being the flattest continent…not that Australian doesn’t have it’s own unique beauty.

Montana is also cool. KMSO has a cool approach over the mountains and then around a few.

So I’ve been trying these as they come up. CYVJ to KSEA. This has to be on the list. The terrain plus the surprisingly short distance between them and the fact they are both 3D!

I really recommend a flight from CYVR to CYYC you will fly over the Canadian Rockies for the majority of the flight.

Again I hadn’t tried this before! I was just checking it out. It’s fantastic mountain scenery. Somehow the Rockies have to get from Colorado to Alaska. And this is it apparently. Some of the valley-between-the-mountain scenery seems to compete well with Colorado(?).

You can really engage with the scenery in the Himalayas especially running south approach to Paro. The arrival is pretty much just flying into a canyon with mountains on both sides, it’s pretty cool if you haven’t done it before.

Ok, Paro in Bhutan is crazy! Flying out of a bathtub in the first place, and then crazy varying terrain in all directions, snowy summits and all. I can’t believe I haven’t done this! Aspen on steroids.

Yeah, mountains on both sides. I just did the departure; I’ve gotta do the approach now!..even down from the mountain ranges you get the rivers snaking to the plains as far as visual contrast…

Thanks, I’m trying this now. I didn’t know the Rockies were so endless (I have family born up there): it’s like you have high rugged terrain at both ends with a bit of rest in between. Especially spectacular at the destination.

I told you ;). Glad you like it too!

My personal favorites are places like Tirana, Ohrid, Kukës, Tivat, Dubrovnik, Split, Podgorica, and Bergen…just to name a few. Also pretty much anywhere in Greece.
