The Replay feature… we all have used it before. We’ve used it to replay our dreadful or beautiful landings, make cinematic shots, and make flight edits. However, one visual feature that could significantly uppen the realism and creative possibilities of replays is motion blur.
Natural Motion Blur During Camera Movement
When the replay camera is moving or panning alongside an aircraft, a natural motion blur effect could be applied automatically. This would replicate the effect seen in real-world aviation videography, where fast-moving aircraft and backgrounds create subtle blur due to camera motion.
This would make fly-bys, formation flights, and high-speed passes feel more dynamic and cinematic.
Here’s the concept.
Motion Blur for Stationary Cameras
Another option would be allowing motion blur even when the camera is stationary. In this case, users could toggle the effect manually and adjust:
- Blur intensity
- Blur direction
This would simulate a long-exposure photography effect, allowing users to capture dramatic moments such as aircraft rushing past a fixed camera while the background remains sharp.
User Control and Performance
To keep the feature flexible, motion blur should be fully optional, with a simple toggle and adjustable sliders. This ensures that users who prefer cleaner visuals or want to prioritize performance can easily disable it.
Does this fit?
The replay system already acts as a creative tool for the community. Adding motion blur would elevate the visual quality of replay footage and screenshots, helping users produce more realistic and cinematic aviation content directly within the simulator.
