Hey guys if yall haven’t noticed a lot of large international airports have always seemed to have no traffic. One of the most obvious and massive airports (in my opinion) is Houston Intercontinental (KIAH), Houston handles almost 42 million people a year, however, when on IF there is all of 1 plane there. Just curious about what your thoughts are and what are some other Airports that are huge however see no traffic in IF. As always Happy Flying!
I think people should make more events in smaller and not as used airports. This way we can discover new places.
For example, at MSP in IF, I saw one person once in November and that’s all.
I’m not saying we should use large airports all the time I just find it curious that a large airport like that has very few people.
would defiantly agree with @pixeltoast on that one.
No, I definitely agree I love flying at smaller airports rather than larger, however, its just weird seeing at larger airports, that have larger aircraft no one is there flying it another example is KEWR it’s right next to KJFK however a limited number of people use it.
Agreed. It’s so weird flying outta Intercontinental with no one there! Same can usually be said for Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta.
Haha exactly the one nice thing is not having to sit and wait on the taxiway.
Yep. Those 33/15 lineups can get pretty nasty…
In real life MSP is crawling with Delta planes (with one or two Sun Country planes here and there). In IF it only has one or two planes a day. Usually a airline that has never gone to MSP and parking in the wrong spot 🙄.
It has 5 runways, a weird layout in my opinon, and there is not a lot of “popular”, in IF terms, airports near it. I like it. Challenge accepted, I am going to go control there. 👌
KATL does have a really odd layout.
Yeah but it’s closer to Miami.
In my opinion some larger airports are too heavily used. One of my favorite airports (due to its approaches), KLGA, never gets used because JFK is next door. The only people I see at LGA are people recreating flight 1549.
KSJC is another example of an underserved airport. It is the main airport in Silicon Valley and it is often ignored because KSFO is not that far away from the airport.
Yeah probably not the best idea.
I have actually flown through there a couple of times and it’s very “user friendly” if that is the word I am looking for
I think an airport that also gets underserved is KDEN. It is usually very busy in Real Life, but in IF it’s a ghostown. I might start a series of events at underserved airports now lol
I say KATL because, as we all know, it is the world’s BUSIEST airport! However, in the IF servers, usually there is only one to two planes there.
My VA’s hub is KCVG, but it is an airport that (most of the time) is completely empty. There might only be a plane there. It has 2 terminals, 65 cargo gates, and four runways. There is easily enough room for people to fly in and out of it on IF.
