With Global coming hopefully soon, and the fact that I don’t use GA enough in Infinite Flight I want to do a Country tour of the United States. I am looking for US airports in the real world that have scenic approaches, scenic views from the airport, or just any airport with a scenic landmark nearby. Post all of the airports you can think of and be sure to post a variety of airports, it doesn’t matter if it is high up in the Rockies or low down in the Everglades or anything between. Every airport requested will be researched into and hopefully I can use them in my flight plan.
Whether it has a 10,000 foot asphalt runway or a 2,000 foot dirt runway I will look into it.
Thank you for reading and happy landings!
(PS: I plan on using the SR22 so no runways shorter than 2,000-2,500 feet)
This airport is amazing
Salt Lake City has a great approach. KSLC
Looks beautiful! Will be sure to add that to the list.
This is also a very cool approach and some cool scenery to the left
This is a really great idea, I’ll have to think about what I know, just wanted to say I hope this thread takes off
The approach for Tampa comes over some of the countries best beaches!
Yeah me too, I want to try my best to experience global in every way possible. I think taking a week and flying and seeing my country in a way I never would be able to do before will be amazing. After I complete this journey I wish to do other regions like New Zealand / Australia and Europe.
Got one: mammoth lakes, ca (kmmh). It’s kind of in a caldera surrounded by mountains, I’ve flown there in a dash-8 from lax a couple times and the approach is interesting. The highlight in your sr22, though, would have to be that Yosemite valley is in easy range. Yosemite in a GA is near the top of my list of first flights for global
My favorite airport, KBZN (Bozeman Montana) is amazing. Lots of mountains in the background:-D
(Not my photos)
Yes, that sounds awesome! I will be sure to fly that with global.
KJFK Runway 13L Canarsie approach is the most scenic thing I can imagine 😍
Buildings aren’t scenic though. I can’t imagine any open grass fields or forests near JFK, but I could be wrong.
The closed Brooklyn Afb has quite some trees, so does Long Island ;)
KTEX - Telluride - beautiful airport, both ends of the runway end in cliffs, so be ready with the brakes :-)
Just flew into JFK yesterday, there’s lots of trees and grass and the ocean is beautiful!
Thanks for your suggestion however I am flying in a small aircraft and I would like to try to stick to the smaller airports, the Canarsie approach is something I will save for my BAVA A318
If you’re a fan of flying a couple of feet over skyscrapers, San Diego is for ya.
If you have never flown on a flight doing the River Visual into KDCA you have never experienced flight.
