  • WHAT IS THIS?

    Basically, the idea consists on having more ways of saying or replying to things.

  • For example: you’re Aeromexico 25 and the ATC says:

    Aeromexico 25, turn left heading 170, descend and maintain 5,000.

    The automatic reply you would normally say is:

    Turn left heading 170, descend and maintain 5,000, Aeromexico 25.

    With this new feature, you could choose another predefined way of replying, for example:

    Heading 170, down to 5,000, Aeromexico 25

  • Here’s another example:

    You’re Speedbird 178 and the ATC says:

    Speedbird 178, contact New York Departure on 118.17.

    The automatic reply you would normally say is:

    Contacting New York Departure on 118.17, Speedbird 178.

    With this new feature, you could choose another predefined way of replying, for example:

    118.17, Speedbird 178, so long!

  • HOW WOULD THIS SOUND IN-SIM?

    In the following video, you’ll be able to listen a little example of how would communication sound like if the feature is added.

  • HOW WOULD THIS LOOK IN-SIM?

  • In the Settings > Live section, a bar with the name: “Messages, Requests and Replies” would appear below “Default Voice”.

  • You would have to click on “Change” at the right to enter to this section.

  • After clicking, this would appear. At the left, you would have to select the frequency in which you would like to change any message. Then at the right, you would have 3 options to choose: announcement, request or reply. After that, you would have to select what type of message you would like to personalize (heading, altitude, frequency change, clearance, etc). Finally, you would have to select your favorite option of the ones available.

  • PROS AND CONS

  • PROS: The Pilot/ATC communication would become more realistic. More ways of saying things, more enjoyable experience. The more personalized the sim can be, the more you will like it. Say things the way you want!

  • CONS: A consequence would be that pilots would have to make sure they understand what they’re saying. I don’t see any other.

  • WHY DO WE NEED THIS? / WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE FOR THIS?

  • As I’ve already mentioned, this would increase the realism of Infinite Flight. Communication would be less “robotic” and a more human way of talking would appear.

  • CLARIFICATIONS

  • This option would only be available if you’re a pilot. ATC’s shouldn’t be able to change the way they talk so every message can be clearly understood by the pilot.

  • Some messages wouldn’t be able to be changed.
    For example: “Cleared for takeoff, runway 5R, IFSHOTS1”. There’s no other way of reply to a takeoff clearance.

  • I saw there’s a similar topic to this, but it includes some requirements which I don’t find necessary. The feature has 0 votes, it was made in 2018 and I think this topic is clearer to understand.

This is very nice! I love the idea of this and I support it. Would make it more realistic in a way also.

Technically there is another way. It could be “Runway 5, cleared for takeoff, IFSHOTS1”

I fully support this idea though, it would open up a whole new way of communication!

Actually these can be achieved now, here’s a tutorial:

for example,

All you need to do is to change the pronunciation of “Turn left heading” to “left heading”, “descend and maintain” to “down to”, following the steps provided.

I know, actually, I used that topic to make the video example. The point is that this should be achieved without having to changing them by ourselves.

A disadvantage of that, is that if you save the change for all the voices, ATC would also change the pronunciations, which shouldn’t happen.

Glad you found this, however, it looks like it goes through your device. By the looks of this request, this would be in-game, and would then create less steps to take for this request. I can see that tutorial as a work around until this idea/request is added to the game.

This feature request is really good! 🙌 I will definitely be voting for this since the ATC reply messages we have now sound a bit too robotic and monotone. This would definitely add that flair to ATC communication!
