During development of the 737 MAX, it was said by staff that it would use modified 757 sounds as the most realistic approach given the lack of a LEAP soundpack. However, it looks like this modified soundpack somehow also made its way onto the 757. Below are, respectively, videos of a 737 MAX taking off, a 757 taking off, a WIP video of the 757 soundpack and a 757 taking off on an older version of Infinite Flight (either 21.4 or 21.5).
The actual “sound” of the 757 wasn’t changed. This confused me too because they said they would modify it… I think they said that because they added an F-18 loop to simulate the “motoring” sequence during startup so they considered it modified, but the literal definition of “modify” is to change or alter the actual thing, not adding something to it… but whatever. The sound are the sounds, and don’t get me wrong, the 757 in IF does sound like the high pitched leaps, but since they said modify, I was expecting them to maybe quiet down the roar, or maybe even make the high pitched noise louder and lessen that vacuum-ish sound
It’s 100x better than the generic sounds tho so Im happy with that
