Modification to Heads-Up Display (HUD)

  1. Request that the HUD is modified so that it does not block or hinder the flight instruments.

  2. As shown by, for example, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner HUD in the screenshot provided by the screenshot of the video on YouTube. (Link: https://youtu.be/NTU2M_EI9mo?si=4AzrQLEw_2AYSbUm.)

• Proposals:

  1. Request that the compass in the center is minimized or cut in half and moved higher or even lower. The second picture shown as a possible modification that I created using the HUD while flying the A359.

a. As shown in the 787 screenshot above:

i. The compass, too, is relatively small.
ii. The portion that shows the bank angle contains the heading (H 055). The heading selected below where the compass is currently, also, shows 055. In other words, I am not proposing nor is a vital piece of navigation missing in a real HUD.

• In conclusion:

  1. The current HUD—obviously the compass—slightly hinders the instruments, in which I’d rather use the flight deck map versus the HUD map (bottom left) with the option to only the airspeed and altitude shown.

a. Again, the compass hinders the viewing of the instruments.

i. AGAIN, I am N̶O̶T̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶p̶o̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶r̶e̶m̶o̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶o̶m̶p̶a̶s̶s̶ ̶p̶o̶r̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶e̶n̶t̶i̶r̶e̶l̶y̶.

The heading and compass is extremely vital.

ii. I would rather just have the ability to see the map and gyroscope/attitude instrument, with the airspeed indicator still on the left and the altitude still on the right. (As—unless someone knows an exception, please correct/inform me—all HUDs are set up.)
