Model Aircraft Collections (Continued)

Dornier D328 done!!! Was a fun and fast little build, but my procrastinating ahh took like 3 weeks to finish this.

After a bumpy start with it, the Eduard Bf 109G-4 has now been decalled. I’m more comfortable with Hasegawa’s 109s, less parts and easier construction.

Hawker Sisley Trident 3 complete! Somehow, I finished this build in 4 days. That’s wild considering I can take a month to build a model sometimes.

All my trijets so far

Speedbird 238, cleared for takeoff.

My friend’s making BZN too - it’s on MAF which I think you’re on too.

Finished the Bf 109G-4, and started an AVG P-40B/Hawk 81-A-2 from Airfix. I’m enjoying the Warhawk more compared to the 109.

Inquiry about Selling Models

Hi all! I have 60 Gemini Jets and NG Models that I’ve collected over the past three years and are worth around $2000 USD. Does anybody have tips on how to sell them- most of them have the boxes but some don’t have. Where should I sell these models and should I do so in bulk or individually?

This is based on my personal experience, so it may be different for you.

I typically sell models on Facebook through model aircraft groups that allow selling. You can make a post and set the rules of your sale, such as where you will ship them to (keep it in the United States for cheaper shipping), where to pay (Venmo, PayPal), and bargaining rules (either yes or no).

Model prices will vary. Higher prices may take longer to sell. If any models have defects or missing items (in your case, the boxes), the price will need to be much lower. I honestly wouldn’t try to sell models missing their boxes.

You also need to be very honest and transparent when selling. Sales on Facebook will be conducted via private messages. Always keep a record of those messages, just in case someone attempts to scam you. I nearly had this happen to me earlier this year.

Provide a single image with all the models you plan to sell in their box in the post. If a person is interested in the model, provide good-quality pictures of the model in a private message.

Finally, first come first serve rules apply. If you sell a model, take a new picture of all the models in their boxes or edit out the one you sold. Do this quickly too if you do sell models. If one person doesn’t get the model and someone else wants it, sell it to them instead.

Phorza gave great tips.

Don’t sell on eBay - they take massive cuts (13.6% I believe) and it’s just not worth it. I highly recommend joining Model Airliner Forum and putting them in the private party sales.

The Hawk 81 from Airfix in 48th has been completed, and I’m now working on an RAF Mustang Mk.III (P-51C) from Tamiya. The decals on this Mustang are VERY thick, and don’t react to Mr. Mark Softer, my strongest decal softener. Guess these decals won’t conform onto the panel lines then.

After I finish the Mustang, I’ll be working on a Bundesluftwaffe Typhoon from Revell in 48th. The kit comes with markings for 30+25 for the Baron (Richthofen) Spirit, but I’ll use just the codes and crosses, leaving the special markings off.

Mustang finished! Now, onto the Eurofighter Typhoon in German colours.

Feels weird to see the Mustang in RAF colours…

Have you seen it in Luftwaffe captured markings though? KG 200 was the unit in charge of testing captured Allied aircraft.
