Military Callsign

I’m not that into military jets and when I fly them, I don’t know what callsign to use.
So does any one know what they use?

Airforce is a major one

You can use and “airforce #” or a word and then two numbers. I’ve seen RHINO90, MASH81, HOIST99, SONIC99, BACON22. Anything really.

Y’all strive for realism, so here is a list of actually call signs, Squadron specific. “Air Force” is used very infrequently.

Thank you for sharing. I always wondered why they had weird names. Bookmarked for the next time I see a weird callsign.

Best Military callsigns

I’m sure that this site will surely help you in your search for a good callsign. Although from personal opinions, I roll with the callsign “Maverick”.

Definition: A maverick is a free, independent minded person.

Although I’m sure @Maxmustang could be of greater assistance than me.

Callsigns can be personal or they can be heritage of a squadron. For example when I was with 80th FS at Kunsan AB ROK we were known as JUVATS my commander was always JUVAT1 but his personal callsign was BENDER. Sometimes callsigns can be based off notable pilots or commanders for example the wing I was under was called the wolf pack named after Ret BG Robin “WOLF” Olds A triple ace.

What aircraft did you fly?

Lol im not a pilot, I am Squadron Aviation Resource Manager. I build flights for squadrons I’m assigned to. Manage training and standard & evaluation platforms, track and monitor pilot qualifications for rated USAF inventoried pilots. And if my job requires it can be loaded as aircrew on designated USAF aircraft. I was with the 80th FS from 2013 to 2014. Before that I was at Tinker with AWACS in the 966th AACS and the 964th AACS.

My callsign for the 80th was RADIO. Long story lol.

Those are personal nicknames. One of my families good friends flew the lawn darts, and his nickname was “Biggie”, because he was really short. He wasn’t identified as Biggie over ATC, however.

That would have just been hypnotizing.
