Microsoft Outage Affecting Flights across the globe

Hello everyone! I am here with some massive news. Microsoft suite has had a huge outage in many regions of the world.

Microsoft Outage Affecting Flights Across The Globe

This has caused many airlines to ground flights, including Delta. According to the Delta News Hub “Delta has paused its global flight schedule this morning due to a vendor technology issue that is impacting several airlines and businesses around the world. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible to resume operations.”

This has a massive impact on not only the aviation industry, but on hospitals and 911 systems too.

Companies that have been affected:

  • Airlines: schedules affected, many shut down.
  • Hotels: the Park Hyatt Paris has been using manual equipment (paper).
  • Amusment Parks: Disneyland is also using pencil and paper.
  • 911 Operations: 911 lines in multiple states, including Minnesota (@Mort), Alaska, and others.

It’s mostly ended I think in the US but self check out kiosks at grocery stores here in Thailand have also broken down.

BKK airport has also released a statement and DMK was also affected.

AirAsia has also announced that they are having issues with the booking and reservation checking systems

It appears that delta may be affected as they have a ground stop at pretty much every hub.

If you pretty much look at any airport, you will see a lot of delays.

Not really what the world’s busiest airport should look like at this time of day… lots of delays and cancellations have blanketed the airport as of now. Imagine the chaos there. I guess the people living in the residential areas near ATL are having a well earned and nice break away from the departing and arriving planes coming every few seconds.

Not dumb at all… had the same thought. I believe it is that the screens in airports are run by a program connected to Microsoft? Maybe someone else can touch on it.

the check in system, reservation system, all the online airline systems are run on microsoft
