Hello Everyone! Today I bring to you my favorite session so far, on December I controlled for more than 7 hours my favorite airport. I was the only approach controller for the first 4 hours, then I had to request another controller due to heavy traffic. In this timelapse you will see the first 4 hours of my session, stay tuned for part 2!
Information:
Airport: Benito Juárez International Airport [Mexico City] Date:2020-12-06T06:00:00Z
My plan was to keep all the aircraft in the available STARs, as this wasn’t possible because not all the pilots had a STAR filed, I had to vector them to SLM and then to the IAF (SMO/MAVEK). The most difficult part was the intercept, some pilots reacted late and as you can see in the chart I wasn’t able to use all the cone due to terrain.
Very cool! Orderly line, special procedures, that’s really well done! Mexico City is rather challenging thanks to the terrain for pilots and ATC alike, but you managed to find a good flow rather well. Thanks for sharing and controlling!
