Dear Infinite Flight Support Team,
I am writing to bring to your attention an ongoing and extremely frustrating issue with your server connectivity. Despite raising concerns about my 5G connection previously, the response I received was far from helpful or satisfactory. After switching to a 4G network as a workaround, I discovered that the problem persists.
On 4G, the flight works smoothly only until the server faces increased traffic, at which point I am disconnected abruptly. This is not only disruptive but unacceptable for a service that promises a premium experience. Moreover, this issue extends to ATC operations, where I experience significant delays in message delivery. While I can receive messages from pilots, my responses fail to reach them, making it impossible to operate effectively.
As an IFATC trainee, this has caused countless disruptions in my training sessions. For the first few minutes, everything seems fine, but the connection issues inevitably arise, rendering the platform unusable. It’s disheartening that, despite the time and effort I’ve invested, these problems continue to obstruct my experience.
It is high time that these issues are addressed properly. I do not need vague explanations or temporary fixes anymore. What I require is a definitive solution to the ongoing connectivity problems, as this has persisted long enough without any meaningful resolution.
I trust you will take this matter seriously and provide a clear explanation and permanent fix for these issues. Anything less would be a disservice to the commitment and passion of the Infinite Flight community.
Sorry to hear!
There was absolutely no intention of being vague or trying to sell a “temporary fix” in your previous topic. Genuinely experienced a couple of people who have switched off 5G with JIO and it has helped.
We’ve been dealing with JIO-specific issues for years now. They handle their network differently from pretty much every other provider, and we still haven’t figured out exactly what they’re doing. We’ve tried various network configuration changes, but nothing has made a significant difference so far.
The problem seems to be inconsistent as well, perhaps even regional - some JIO users have no issues at all, while others face major connection problems. Since this only happens with a handful of providers while working fine with thousands of others, it’s difficult for us to implement a fix that wouldn’t potentially cause problems elsewhere. Developing a large-scale multiplayer like Infinite Flight can come with a lot of challenges and we are doing our best to be compatible for everyone
I wish I had better news, but that’s the current situation.
We know of several users who switched from JIO to AirTel for example and all problems went away. That’s one thing I can tell you that works. Not saying it’s optimal though as I understand the complexities with switching ISP’s. But just to let you know, what we know works.
Thank you for your response and for explaining the challenges you’ve been facing with Jio’s network. I understand the complexity of ensuring compatibility across various ISPs and appreciate the efforts your team is putting into resolving such issues.
Unfortunately, I recently switched to Jio and, due to contractual obligations, I won’t be able to make any changes to my ISP for the next 70 days. While I understand that switching providers like Airtel might be a viable solution, it’s not an option for me at this moment.
Given this, is there any other workaround or adjustment I can try on my end to improve the connection stability? I am willing to explore any suggestions or settings changes that might help mitigate the issue.
Thank you for your understanding and support. I’m hopeful we can find a solution to ensure a smoother experience in the meantime.
The best thing that has worked for me, considering I have and am still using Jio, is to go to developer settings and turn off 5G entirely, while using IF.
For some weird reason, 5G gives me significantly more latency for IF, it is not viable. The same Jio sim card, in another 4G phone works perfectly, in fact better than the 5G one for reasons not known, for me. Schyllberg explained it better above.
I can confirm this, as when I went on vacation to another state(it was a pretty remote place, Gangtok in fact), 5G turned out to be better than it was in Hyderabad(where i live). So it does depend on region, unfortunately. Airtel is better tho, if you are considering a change
@TalkSick - Thanks you for providing some valuable input!
I took the liberty of doing a Google search on customers experience while using JIO with Multiplayer games trying to find a reasonable root cause for this.
Needless to say, they don’t seem to be very appreciated in this genre…
Thank you for your help and support regarding my connectivity issues. After further testing, I’ve realized that I don’t experience similar problems while playing other games on my phone using the Jio network. It seems this issue might be specific to how Infinite Flight interacts with Jio’s infrastructure.
That being said, I understand the challenges you face with ISP-specific compatibility, and I appreciate your efforts to assist me. I will be switching to a different ISP in March and hope this resolves the problem entirely.
