Mesa Gateway Spotting! Everything You Think and More! KIWA/AZA

hello all! I’m back again. This time spotting with @Brody_Swiatek at Phoenix Mesa Gateway airport!

This is my first time ever spotting here and it was very enjoyable! Enjoy!

First off today is Avelo coming in from their only destination, Burbank

2nd now is a very nice backlit Allegiant A319 that departed 1 hour late to Vegas

Then we have a helinet chonk helicopter presumably going to help fight the fires

4th now is the 10 tanker DC-10 going to drop its load on a fire

Now one of the Avro RJ85s coming back after dropping its load.

Here we have a precious iAero 737-400 from Long Beach!

Next we have chonker coming back from its assigned fire

The US Department Of Homeland Security and Border Patrol King Air probably coming from Fort Huachuca. He wasn’t on FR24 so it caught me by surprise.

Finally is redemption for my Allegiant plane!

And that’s it for today! Spotting at AZA is fun, as you never know what you’ll get!

I’m driving to Flagstaff right now, I think I know where the tankers were heading:

Love the livery! I think I know where it was heading, as I flew over the area last week:

Fantastic pictures! I really like to see some more exotic liveries like the Avelo livery, which is always a positive! Thanks for sharing!

I was actually just by the airport yesterday, all I saw all day flying overhead was just tankers (granted I wasn’t sitting out by the airport watching). Not sure what kind of fire was going on but it must have been a pretty bad one

Thank you so much!!

Yeah there’s a big one near a town called Heber. That’s where they’ve been going

he going brr

Normally, we only get the DC-10s if it’s really bad (we did last year) but normally we get the Bae’s and the Avros, with Erickson MD-87s also occasionally showing up. Last year the DC-10s were at COS, quite out of the way for a Denver spotter.

Nice shots!

Yeah, fires are incredibly bad rn. Parts of Flagstaff are already under the “set” action. All our forests are literally closing

Thanks tho!
