Mesa Air & Republic Airways to Merge

This morning, Phoenix based Mesa Air and Indianapolis based Republic Airways have announced intentions to merge into a combined carrier. The combined company, which would operate as Republic Airways Holdings Inc, will have a single fleet of about 310 Embraer 170/175 aircraft, and will remain listed on the Nasdaq as “RJET.”

According to Reuters, Mesa, which has a market value of $29.3 million, rose 23.8% in premarket trading (this is especially notable given the less than ideal situation in the US stock market).
