Continental Airlines had been retired MD-81 in 2003, 82, and 83 until 2006.
I need this to replace the 717 in Infinite Flight. I can just imagine I’m bunch of chrome AA MD-80’s Filling up DFW

Same, we need the MD-80 so bad, spend so much time in it, in the late 90s/early 2000s, in FS2004 and XP11 lately, and always loved it ! :D

I would much rather have this, rather than the 717 being reworked. So many different airlines operated this aircraft, and it would super cool to see some of those older airline liveries.

I would actually agree with this as the B717 only has 3 Operators with the Delta and Qantas and Hawaiian all planning to Retire their B717s. Meanwhile the MD80 as 20+ Operators!

You never know. Look at the position it holds in the voting. As it relates to new aircraft, the MD80 is 3rd behind ATR / A330-200 with 407 votes.( 1 being my vote lol ) Not a bad fanbase if u ask me, So maybe a long way off, but once reworks are all done, and other aircaft are added, perhaps it will come. I mean look, we got DC10/MD11. Both of which sold less airframes combined than the MD80 did.

Lol funnily enough, one of the MD-80s of Red Air’s parent company, LASER airlines, had an engine failure a day or two ago and flew over my house and in restricted airspace at only 2K feet, felt like there was an earthquake, those things are LOUD lmao.

Actually a nice idea. If they got rid of the Citation for the Chalenger, why not do it with the 717 and MD-80?

There’s also the possibility of adding more than one variant for the MD-80, unlike the B717’s single one.

Maybe they’ll just list it as “McDonnell Douglas MD-80” in game and the specific variants (MD-81/2/3/8) are dependent on the livery, like with winglets.
