Maybe a dumb question

Boeing made the 707, 717, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777 and 787. Naturally, the next plane will be the 797. But what do you think will be the name of the 797 successor? Can’t sleep so my brain is making me question a lot of things…

807? maybe

Only time will tell

Thought about that but it would feel weird to see a boeing plane that doesn’t starts with a 7 and ends with a 7

I would assume that they would make the NMA to replace 757s and 767s, and after that, I have no clue. The NMA is still under development though

Maybe like they will use another digit other than 7?

No question is a dumb question! this is a very good question 😄

Personally, I think it will be something like: Boeing New Generation: the 8 series

So the:

818
828
838
848
858
868
878
888
898

OR

It could be: Boeing, the second generation:

717 II
727 II
737 II
747 II

And so on…

No dumb questions here :)

The truth of the matter is that we just don’t know. I’m sure Boeing has something in the works, and when the time comes, we will know!

I believe the first digit of the “XXX” is meant for something, like Boeing’s 1, 2, and 3 series are propeller aircraft. The 7 series are the jets. Boeing has made a Boeing 818, from the TFX Program.
There’s also a Boeing 909 prototype…

Your question is quite interesting @Blue_Lantern.

I believe they’ll be starting another series of aircrafts with some different names and this would be cool as my gut says!!

The 7007 maby haha

After windows 95 and 98 came XP.
So going by that logic and deriving from the current situation, they could name it Boeing - BM ( Better Max)

I think before Boeing moves onto another number series they’ll update the 757 and 767 like what they did with the 777X for the NMA project, after that who knows? Maybe an 8, 9, or even a 10 series.

For now building a 797 are no deal because of the pandemic. but answering your question is maybe the same “7X7” naming method but with a new suffix after the name as many rumors said.

For example, the future 767 might be the “767X” and the 757 might be called as the “757 Plus”.

And i need a 727X right now

Maybe MAX and X correlates with narrowbodies and widebodies, so 757MAX-8(-9) and 767X-8(-9)? I think Boeing would spare 797 for something else other than NMA.

I think they already doing it due to currently low demand to air travel.

What bout the 7107

Adding to that, maybe they will “revamp” their older planes like a 707 NG inspired by their 737 NGs or new variants of aircraft like the 787-7 or new LR or ER variants to their aircraft like a 757-200ER
