Not all lights, but you at least need a beacon on if you have one.

Strobes are recommended on all active runways, but I really only use them when I’m flying at night.

Having no lights on, ever, isn’t really good practice in the real world when you have them. Unless you’re like me and fly a plane that has no lights.

This kinda makes sense but how would ATC know whether or not an aircraft would want to do pattern work or not?

I know but I personally think as long as the lights are on it doesn’t matter. I value pilot skill and their ability to follow instructions much more. Especially on IF. In real life it’s a whole other story

(@Maxmustang what do you think of this?..) maybe we should have a partial DEL (manned by tower) service where you request FPL or pattern work before pushback and ATC approves/declines your FPL or patterns

I’m not talking about infinite flight right now, this is real life, where you said, “lights… serve no safety use like in real life”.

That is how you get mid air collisions at night. People don’t turn on their lights and they never see each other. You’re probably thinking it’s not going to happen, until it does happen. And it has happened.

MaxSez: I’m amazed at the lack of Tech book knowledge or FAR/ICAO regulations knowledge offered here by the “few”, particularly from those who guide us on our daily rounds. Please tell me I’m hallucinating!

Max, be safe out there fella. I don’t want you to pass out, keel over or ram your head through the wall but you gotta kinda expect some of the responses that you hate are coming based on the intellect and pubescent clientele who partake in day to day IFC activities. 🍺🍔🌭

Most people do. Or atleast that´s what I´ve experienced - Except for a few of course.

@Kevin_Potthast… 4 simple words Kevin; “Remaining in the Pattern”!

Ever flown at a sparsely populated region at night on expert (uncontrolled)? I was flying into KSFO and only when I reached 500 feet did I see strobes flashing on an inbound to 01R (I was inbound to 28L), without lights i wouldn’t have seen it. Im not even going to combat saying they’re useless IRL, it’s just purely wrong

I’m not talking about Real life at all. This is for Live ATC and that’s what I am referring to. 🙄

Then why’d you say it? Yes you’ve now edited it out but you said it

I clearly said IF. That means infinite flights plus look at the category this topic is in

That is when you request takeoff clearance, how will you know and properly deny push/taxi if you don’t know if they are remaining in the pattern or not?

Are you proposing a new command to let ATC know before you request push?

@Kevin_Potthast… No new command! Just answer yr ? “How do you request pattern work”… let’s move on we are not on the same freq . Nice chatting with you. Regards, Max

So from what I understand you think aircraft without a FPL files are not allowed to push. However ATC only knows that you want to do pattern work when you request take off, AFTER you request push.

“Direct Plan”. Is a cats paw! Want to insure proper routing require “Airway” use by “Trash Haulers”. New Push/ Fltplan call non sense without an announcement or NOTAM if the intent is to ignore Pushback request unless properly filed with a "non-direct plan… Who thunk this one up!

Although I’ve seen a massive positive paradigm shift in manners, experience and the overall want to improve within this flight community unfortunately some of the poor behavior, antics and ignorance is a ramification of IF being a game open to anyone willing to cough up a few dollars. Many users are not self motivated and proactive enough to become an understudy of the great experience of defying gravity.

The positive note and beacon is the fact that we have a growing community strong enough to overcome some of the mentioned shortfalls via discussion, in game addendums/enhancements and a responsive development team. Max, you have my support on this one.
