MaxSends: ATC RULE Chg: "No Plan-No Service" on Exp Server!!! 29 June Exp Pilot FAILURE TO FILE >50%

MaxSez: Mendacity! I spent the last week surveying the Expert Servers for Pilot errors. I flew
incognito and mostly sat on the tarmac near the threshold and just watched the action. I could not believe the number of Grade 4/5’s who just kick the tire, lite the firer and go for it. No Flight Plan, No markers, Beacons during taxi, Strobe alight on the apron or during taxi, Strobes off while crossing runways, a regular occurrence. The Gd 4/5 races from parking to the threshold are fun to watch. My go at controlled Aspen yesterday told the tail; T&G’s in a D, made the calls, on touch down 1st go a Citation driven by a Grade 5 (uin-named) with no plan, no calls or lights landed on top of me on touch down and ran off the runway (ignored by ATC)!Now that’s Mendacity!

Considering the repetitive nature of these so called expert Pilot Errors I intend to take them on here one at a time with recommended FDS/ATC Action:

First up; CORRECTIVE ACTION: “IF Flight Plans”;New Rule: If your flying an Airliner you “SHALL” file an all encompassing IFR Flight Plan to operate. If your flying GA you “SHOULD” file a Flight Plan at all times. You SHALL file if your departing your home field pattern or entering/terminating a cross country within controlled airspace.

“FAILURE TO COMPLY”: I recommend. FDS/ATC Refuse all Serves to those IFR/VFR aircraft not in compliance". What say the members?

(Authority: FAR Part-91 & Section 901 of the Federal Aviation Act REQUIRES commercial aircraft to file an IFR FLIGHT PlAN in Controller Airspace. FAR Part-99 Recommends GA File a VFR Flight Plans, this part is now in revision, an anticipated rule change will require VFR Flight Plans for GA at all times per Home Land Security recommendations, plus it makes sense)

(Stats: 7/23/17 Random Sample, Exp Server: 4 Hr period. 64 flts 30 w/FltPlans 34 w/o)

GA all the way! Be Safe & Aviate, Navigate & Communicate like a Pro.

Max, our home grown IF FAA inspector. :p
In all seriousness, these are all very good suggestions that are going to be hard to implement mainly because it’s an app and a “watered down” simulation if you compare it to X-Plane or P3D. I believe IF has the potential, but it will be a fight getting it there

While I like the idea, we already have a “Please file FPl before Taxiing” or something like that.
Also, what about patternwork?

@Rodney_Buckland… No fight Rod! It’s a question of Leadership. One Leads, Follows or gets out of the way. IF is a learning vehicle, Just step off correctly then it left, right, left , right etc.

@Emil… Re-read. the FAR VFR Guidance if you are remaining in the pattern no plan required. “Please File” has no teeth. It’s like Please take this laxative… LOL… Regards Max

(If the intent of the “File” instruction was a prelude to a denial of service then
something stinks!. Any ATC change should be accompanied by a NOTAM or public announcement)

I think the system must be changed for this, you must be able to file a more detailed flightplan(altiude) and we should have a DEL channel. For now Expert ATCs just Need to use that please file flightplan command.

It’s not a big deal when pilots have strobe lights on at all times. It’s better then forgetting to turn them on before take off. As a pilot I would rather worry about flying with skill rather then that and yes I agree that filing a FPL is important

@Chatta290. I’ll take on Strobes next. Strobe protocol is well established, it’s an international rule & accepted practice. If you ignore this FAR requirement & IF Tutes etc you just might consider closing up your ATC shop. Your permitting non- compliance, shame on you…

That contradicts with your title: “No Plan-No Service”

I enjoy doing patterns in something else than GA, because the choice is somewhat limited.

Eh, not really. Then we won´t let them taxi, so yeah, not really a question, but an instruction.

@Emil… Pls re-read. IF VFR “Should/Shall”. Only a GA driver would kibble on the need to file … Time chg, GA drivers will change with the times and maturity and commercial junk don’t do no T&G at Class B’s routinely except in IF, The shame of it!

Not sure I get what you mean, but I´ll just slowly kibble away with the time. Not sure if should or Shall just leave this here.
However, I probably should/Shall just stop now.
Regards, Emil.

AaronSez: This is IF I prefer people to realistically fly and follow all ATC instructions. The lights on IF are purely an aesthetic part of the plane and serve no safety use like in real life.

@Chatta290… talk to me on PM. your argument is specious and without foundation. Max

I’d like to be the fly on the wall with your private message.

I have an issue with direct plans. Add a waypoint or something.

As usual this new controversial topic has brought up to me the interrogatory again of whether IF is a sim or a game… and if it the latter to most of the pilots… you will never get much acquiescence as far as modifying any of the current rules …let alone instituting new ones…so until that question is answered and we create a server for the rule stickler simmers…who in most cases are probably either chronologically or temperamentally older than the majority of users…l do not see any immediate changes in the offing…until global comes out !!!

Direct plans is almost as bad as no plan. I´m not gonna give any one FF with a direct FPL.

That is not necessarily true.

I actually use the nav lights when flying at night to see direction of other planes.

Please elaborate on how having all lights on for your whole flight is bad? Yeah it’s not realistic but it’s not a big deal…
