That was one hell of an approach

Feedback from OK-WAXY

Transition: the formula for transitions is the airport altitude AGL + 2500ft, rounded up to the nearest 500ft. In this case, KRDU’s altitude of 435ft + 2500ft, rounded up to the nearest 500ft increment would equal a transition altitude of 3000ft.
Inbound pattern work: good job giving me the correct pattern to get to the runway.
Landing clearance: you gave me the clearance to land at a great time - early! By doing this, you alleviate creating additional stress during busy times when manning the tower.
Exit runway: good timing with this as well!

Overall, for my first session with you, this was pretty good! We obviously didn’t have other pilots attend, so it’s not really possible for me t teach you sequencing and all that jazz, but I can still teach you other things. Next session we will probably work on runway changes and inbounds from aircraft with a preset flight plan, unless we get other pilots to attend.

Wow man, this is more than I could have asked for! Thank you so so much!
For the transition height, I thought its 3500, thank you for correcting me.
I would love to get some more training sessions in and this is what I am working on with my trainer @WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot at the moment.

I really appreciate your time for doing this today!

Unable to tonight, I’ve been working on a school project that’s due Monday. Any chance you can do these earlier in the day? That’d give me a better chance of being able to make it

Yeah can do, London time around 10pm (2100 Zulu)

Ok, if you’re referring to today, that might work, I will see

@Waxyscorpion308 I will be training today at 2200 Zulu with my trainer @WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot will update you on detail later on.

VH-CWK Feedback:

  • No need to clear me twice on the first pattern
  • Made me turn base too late
  • I don’t know why you switched me to 25R on the second pattern (Probably a misclick I assume)
  • Could’ve just told me to enter right downwind immediately
  • Could’ve just told me to exit runway right, cross runway 24L and contact ground. Which would’ve been much easier

Other than that, it’s pretty good!

Also, @Waxyscorpion308, why were you doing your patterns so high up?

Wow guys, thank you for joining and giving me a lot of work to handle, @Waxyscorpion308 @Cwaker. I got a little overwhelmed at one moment with all the requests, but this is what training is for. I know my mistakes well then, but I really appreciate your feedback and time!

Yeah, good job on handling all of the other traffic! Next time, I recommend choosing an airport that isn’t very popular or busy.
