MaxFledlingFacts: AvTerminology; It’s a “Fighter” not a “Fighter Jet”!

MaxSez: I shutter every time I see the term “Fighter Jet” in a Topic or Comment on the Forum. Fighter Jet is a contradiction of terms like “Military Intelligence”. I use Webster’s not Oxford! I’m a Yank! Please bare with me
I prefer WW acceptable terminology in my aviation Lexicon! Goggle is your friend!

“”A fighter aircraft is a military aircraft designed primarily for air-to-air combat against other aircraft, as opposed to bombers and attack aircraft, whose main mission is to attack ground targets (F-F/A), The hallmarks of a fighter are its speed, maneuverability, armament, systems and small size relative to other combat aircraft.” (Wiki/Webster’s)
