MaxSez: Wind-shear is a weather phenomena we all should be aware of. The crash of PA759 (Video), was a wind-shear induced tragedy. The NTSB investigation results for this strike loss set the stage for the development of the Commercial Aircraft “Wind-shear Detection System” which is now installed on all airliners certified to fly in US airspace. Windshear, it doesn’t sound scary but I have watched the full investigation of that crash and believe me, it is.
I live right by where it happened :/ Must have been scary.
Now that terrifies me to even look out of the window during takeoff roll
Haha, don’t worry, it’s extremely rare.
Last week more than 4 go arrounds following due to a windshear in Geneva. It’s was fun to listen to the ATC.
I’ve been to that airport! Thank god there was no windshear when I was there.
I live there so I know very well this airport ;-)
