MaxFledglingFacts: ATC: Do “You” Know Yr “Left” From yr “Right”! (QUIZ)

MaxSez: So ATC tells you “Enter/Depart Left or Right etc.”! Determining direction at an aerodrome controlled or uncontrolled is always based on your flight path relative to Magnetic North, (the system used to number runways is based on compass headings, thus Rway #27 (grafic) is oriented at 270degMag.

Determine which way you enter an aircraft platter from either the left of right side is based on local environmental conditions ect, and are standardized Left or Right pattern entry, usually Left entry, Flight Information Publications (FLIPS) or ATC direction make the call on entry exiting a pattern.

The Grafic below tells the tail! Bottom line, If you enter Right your Right Wing will be parallel the Downwind Side of the Field, vice versa for Left Downwind.
