MaxFledgingFacts: IF AutoBrake/AutoSkid/Rudder Brake!

MaxSez: Consider this IF Feature; All IF aircraft have “Auto Brakes/AntiSkid” just like almost all modern airliners, Believe it or not! Give them a try. When you dirty up on Approach set the brake, use Reverser, reliese the brake when you reach taxi speed (35mph). Use the rudder brakes to exit the rwy & maneuvering. (Cautionary Note; Not applicable for Tail Draggers)

Try it you’ll like it. Just Sayin… Max

This is why the appr mode automatically applies the brake 👍

Shouldn’t this be under features?

Yes, there are anti-skid/BTV systems on most modern airliners. However, the brake in Infinite Flight acts as a parking brake. If you set your brakes before landing in real life it can seriously damage the wheels over time. Auto land automatically sets your brake on landing because the idea of auto land is to stop quickly in low visibility. I’ve found putting the brake on immediately causes you to stop far too quickly to even reach a turnoff point.

Laura has already said that “progressive braking” is in the works, meaning that when you activate your brakes they won’t go 100% immediately as they do now.

@DylanHK… MaxSez: Beg to differ. Your real world conclusion is in error. Most RW Modern airlines are equipped with autobrake/skid set-able systems that activate on boogies down and de-activate by accelerometer. My recommendation works re-read my procedure “Release the Brake At Taxi Speed”!
Leave them set and you “May” get a lock up… in IF. I’ll bet my IF 13K+Landings with locked brakes to support my conclusion.

I’m not disputing the fact that airliners have brake systems on touchdown. But as I’ve said already, Infinite Flight’s brake acts as a parking brake. If you’re going to use RWA as an example, you have to remember that the parking brake set on touchdown will damage the tires. Why use time rolling down the runway at 20 knots (taxi speed) when you could activate brakes at around 60 knots and expedite exiting the runway? I feel like you slow down far too fast to be realistic at all.

When he mentions “feature” he means that it is something you can do in the app as a pilot and he wants people to try it.

Oh right, I can see that now. Thanks for pointing it out.
