MaxSez: Here’s a “Secret” Concept airframe out of OTTO Industries. It’s been talked about and under wraps. Nobody knows what power plant it uses but the fuselage appears Bell X1 like. Any ideas what will finally push this bird?
Wasn’t the original a rocket powered plane. I remember seeing it on the history channel or something of that sort intermingled with land base rocket powered vehicles on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
@American232… The X-1 by Bell aircraft was rocket driven it was the first winged aircraft design to exceed the speed of sound in level flight. Gen.Chuck Yeager an Aviation Hall of Fame member was the Pilot of this craft and many other record breaker flights in the 40/50’s. His exploits are well documented in the movie “The Right Stuff”. @Maxmustang
Sorry, but X-1 wasn’t an air breath plane. It was propelled by rocket engine. Also it was first to exceed speed of sound on level flight, there were couple of propeller and jet plane that could exceed speed of sound by diving. It’s my duty to correct the facts on IF forum, but I’m willing to get punch into my face if I’m wrong.
Back to topic, look like a gigantic egg rather than plane. I wonder how will it fly.
I’m near Victorville maybe I could go see this!
@Deaf… technically correct. Good catch, changed it! Brain Fart again. Regards, Max
Judging from the picture, the power plant look more like rocket from all of big tubes. Propeller is too small to push that gigantic egg so I believe it’s just there to fool TS1 nimrods like with Bell P-59 to fool spies.
Wo, that certainly looks… interesting
Bell aircraft always have that interesting bubble shape. Looks very clever!
